Dilly Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg yeast

  • 1/4 c warm water

  • 1 c cottage cheese heated to lukewarm

  • 1T instant minced onion( or more)

  • 1T soft butter

  • 1 T dill seed ( or more)

  • 2T sugar

  • 1 t salt

  • 1/4  soda

  • 1 egg

  • 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 c flour

Instructions

  1. In large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

  2. Combine warmed cottage cheese (few seconds in microwave until lukewarm) with sugar, onion, butter, dill seed, soda and unbeaten egg. Add to yeast.

  3. Add flour to form a stiff dough, beating well and after each addition. (Can use mixer at low speed)

  4. Cover and let rise in a warm place until light and doubled(50-60 minutes)

  5. Punch down dough and turn into a greased 1 1/2 - 2 qt casserole or bread pan.

  6. Let rise until light-30/40 minutes.

  7. Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes

  8. Brush with soft butter - and sprinkle with salt if desired
